Setting up your Illinois line in the tools you use
Every Illinois Proxies line is delivered as four values in the dashboard: a host, a port, a login and a password, with HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 all answered on the same credentials, plus a rotation link for changing the address. Any program that accepts an authenticated proxy accepts the line. The guides below cover the tools our customers ask about most, in the order we recommend them, starting with the two antidetect browsers we partner with. Each guide has the steps and a couple of tips from support. Nothing here is a promise about any third-party platform; a proxy changes the network path and nothing else.
Undetectable.io
Antidetect browserOur first recommendation for anyone running more than one account or profile. Undetectable.io keeps each profile's cookies, storage and browser identity apart, and each profile can be bound to its own Illinois Proxies line, so a profile always presents the same Illinois carrier address. Teams get shared profiles with separate lines per seat.
- Install Undetectable.io from the link above and sign in.
- Open the Proxy Manager and add a proxy: type HTTP or SOCKS5, host and port from your Illinois Proxies dashboard, then the login and password.
- Press Check next to the proxy; it should report a Chicago, Illinois location and the carrier's network.
- Create a new profile, pick the saved proxy in its proxy field, and set the time zone to match the proxy, which is America/Chicago.
- Start the profile, visit an IP lookup page, and confirm the address and the state before doing real work.
- One line per profile. Two profiles on one line show the same address at the same time, which defeats the purpose of separate profiles.
- Let the time zone follow the proxy rather than fixing it by hand; it stays correct if you move the line to another of our cities later.
GoLogin
Antidetect browserThe second antidetect browser we recommend, and a good fit for people who want a cloud-run profile they can open from any machine. GoLogin accepts the same HTTP or SOCKS5 credentials, checks the proxy from inside the profile editor, and can set the profile's geolocation and language from the proxy's Illinois address.
- Install GoLogin from the link above or open the web version, then create a profile.
- In the profile's Proxy tab choose HTTP or SOCKS5, enter the host, port, login and password from your dashboard.
- Click the check button; the result should name the carrier network and place the address in Illinois.
- Under Geolocation and Time zone choose the options that follow the proxy, then save.
- Run the profile and open a lookup page to confirm the state and the time zone agree.
- Keep the rotation link for the line in the profile's notes field so you can rotate without leaving GoLogin.
- Export a profile before changing its proxy, so you can restore the original pairing if a platform notices the change.
Proxifier
System-wide proxy for Windows and macOSProxifier pushes every application on the computer, or only the ones you name, through a SOCKS5 or HTTPS proxy without the application knowing. It is the usual answer for desktop software that has no proxy setting of its own, and its rules let you send one program through your Illinois line and leave the rest on your normal connection.
- Open Proxifier, go to Profile, then Proxy Servers, and click Add.
- Enter the host and port from the dashboard, choose SOCKS Version 5, and enable authentication with the login and password.
- Use the Check button to confirm the proxy answers and resolves names.
- Go to Profile, then Proxification Rules, and add a rule naming the applications that should use the Illinois line; leave the default rule on Direct.
- Start the application and confirm its traffic appears in the Proxifier connection list with the Illinois proxy.
- Turn on Resolve hostnames through proxy so DNS queries leave through the carrier line as well as the traffic.
- Exclude your dashboard and your IP lookup tool from the rule if you want them to show your own connection for comparison.
FoxyProxy
Browser extension for Firefox and ChromeFoxyProxy switches a single browser between proxies by pattern or by a click on the toolbar. It is the quickest way to send one browser window through an Illinois Proxies line while everything else on the machine stays on your own connection, and it works in Firefox and in Chromium-based browsers.
- Install FoxyProxy from your browser's extension store and open its options page.
- Add a proxy: a title such as Illinois 4G, type HTTP or SOCKS5, host and port from the dashboard, then the login and password.
- Save, then click the FoxyProxy toolbar icon and select the new entry so that all URLs use it.
- Visit an IP lookup page and confirm the address is placed in Chicago, Illinois on the carrier's network.
- Optionally add URL patterns so that only certain sites go through the line.
- In Firefox, also set the extension to proxy DNS when using SOCKS5, so name lookups do not leak your own location.
- A browser that already has a system proxy set will layer the two; clear one before testing.
Firefox network settings
Built-in browser settingFirefox has its own proxy settings independent of the operating system, which makes it a tidy place to run an Illinois line without touching anything else. Firefox prompts for the login and password on first use and can remember them. This is the simplest setup when you need one ordinary browser on an Illinois address.
- Open Firefox Settings, scroll to Network Settings and click the Settings button.
- Choose Manual proxy configuration and enter the host and port in the HTTP Proxy field; tick Also use this proxy for HTTPS.
- If you prefer SOCKS, enter the host and port in the SOCKS Host field instead and select SOCKS v5.
- Tick Proxy DNS when using SOCKS v5, then click OK.
- Load any page; enter the login and password when Firefox asks, and confirm the address on a lookup page.
- Use a separate Firefox profile for the proxied setup so your everyday browsing is not affected.
- If pages stop loading after a rotation, reload once; the line re-registers in a moment and the credentials are unchanged.
Windows system proxy
Operating system settingWindows has a system-wide HTTP proxy setting that most Microsoft applications and many third-party programs honour. It carries no login field of its own, so applications prompt for the credentials or you supply them in the format they expect. Useful when an application reads the system proxy and offers nothing else.
- Open Settings, then Network and Internet, then Proxy.
- Under Manual proxy setup, turn on Use a proxy server and enter the host and port from your dashboard.
- Add any local addresses that should bypass the proxy, then Save.
- Open the application you want on the Illinois line; when it asks for proxy credentials, enter the login and password.
- Confirm the public address in that application, for example by loading an IP lookup page in a browser that follows the system setting.
- Browsers that follow the system proxy will prompt once per session; let them store the credentials if you trust the machine.
- Turn the system proxy off when you are done, because Windows Update and store downloads will otherwise go through the carrier line and count against fair use.
Shadowrocket
iOS proxy clientShadowrocket turns an iPhone or iPad into a device that routes selected apps, or all traffic, through a SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy. It is the standard way to put a mobile app on an Illinois Proxies line, which matters when a platform's app behaves differently from its website and you need to see what an Illinois phone user sees.
- Install Shadowrocket from the App Store and open it.
- Tap the plus button, choose SOCKS5 or HTTPS as the type, and enter the host, port, login and password from the dashboard.
- Save the server, then tap it to select it as the active one.
- Turn on the main connection toggle and accept the VPN configuration prompt from iOS.
- Open a browser on the device and check the address shows Chicago, Illinois, then open the app you want to test.
- Use the per-app rules in Shadowrocket to keep your own messaging and banking apps on your normal connection.
- Turn Wi-Fi off and on after switching servers if an app seems to hold its old connection.
Python requests and curl
Scripting and command lineFor scripts, the line is an ordinary authenticated proxy. The requests library takes a proxies dictionary, curl takes the --proxy flag, and both carry the login and password in the proxy URL. Pair a request to an IP lookup endpoint with a call to the rotation link and you have a complete check and rotate loop in a few lines.
- In Python, build the proxy URL as http://login:password@host:port, or socks5h://login:password@host:port with the PySocks extra installed.
- Pass {'http': url, 'https': url} as the proxies argument to requests.get and request an IP lookup endpoint to confirm the address.
- With curl, run curl --proxy http://login:password@host:port followed by the lookup URL; add --socks5-hostname for SOCKS5.
- To change the address, send a GET to the rotation link shown for the line in the dashboard, wait a moment, then repeat the lookup.
- Set a sensible timeout on every call, because a rotation in progress will refuse connections for a short interval.
- Use socks5h rather than socks5 so that DNS resolution happens through the line and not on your own machine.
- Reuse one requests Session per line; opening a fresh connection for every call is slower and looks less like a real client.
Puppeteer
Browser automationPuppeteer drives a headless or headed Chromium from Node.js, and it accepts a proxy through the --proxy-server launch argument with the credentials supplied by page.authenticate. A script can open a page through the Illinois line, read what an Illinois visitor is shown, rotate the line, and repeat, which suits ad verification and price checks that run on a schedule.
- Launch with puppeteer.launch({ args: ['--proxy-server=host:port'] }), using the host and port from the dashboard.
- Create a page and call page.authenticate({ username: login, password: password }) before the first navigation.
- Set the page's time zone with page.emulateTimezone('America/Chicago') so the browser agrees with the address.
- Navigate to an IP lookup page first and assert that the state is Illinois before visiting the target.
- Between runs, fetch the rotation link with a plain HTTP request if the job needs a different address each time.
- Use a persistent userDataDir per line so cookies and local storage stay with the address they were created on.
- Keep concurrency modest; one Illinois line is one carrier device, and a crowd of parallel pages through it looks nothing like a person.
Before you start
Decide whether you want HTTP or SOCKS5. HTTP is the safe default for browsers and most desktop tools. SOCKS5 carries any TCP traffic and also UDP, so it is the choice for apps that are not web browsers and for anything that needs DNS to resolve through the line. Both run on the credentials in the dashboard and both present the same Illinois carrier address.
Match the clock. The address reads as Chicago, Illinois, and the time zone that goes with it is Central. A browser profile that reports a different zone than its address is an inconsistency a careful platform can notice. Every antidetect browser and most automation libraries can set the zone from the proxy or by name; America/Chicago is the identifier to use.
Checking the line works
After setup, load an IP lookup page through the tool and read three things: the address, the network name, and the location. The network should be AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon, matching the carrier you ordered; the location should be Chicago or Illinois. If the lookup shows your own connection instead, the tool is not using the proxy; the usual causes are a saved system proxy layered underneath, a typo in the port, or credentials entered with a trailing space.
Rotating from inside a tool
The rotation link for each line is a plain URL. Opening it in any browser, fetching it with curl, or calling it from a script asks the modem to re-register, and a new address from the carrier pool appears a moment later. Open connections drop at that moment and reconnect on the new address; the host, port and credentials do not change, so nothing in the tool needs editing. For scheduled jobs, the dashboard timer rotates at a fixed interval without any call from your side.
Tools we do not integrate
We recommend exactly two antidetect browsers, Undetectable.io and GoLogin, because they are the ones our support team has tested against our lines and can help with. Other profile browsers will generally accept the same credentials, but we do not publish guides for them. If a tool you rely on is missing from this page, write to [email protected] or @IllinoisProxiesBot on Telegram with its name and we will test it.
Integration questions
Do I need different credentials for HTTP and SOCKS5?
No. The same host, login and password answer both; only the port may differ, and the dashboard shows each.
Can I use one line in two tools at once?
Technically yes, since both share the same address. For separate accounts or profiles, use separate lines so that each has its own address.
Which tool should a first-time customer start with?
Undetectable.io for account work, Firefox network settings for a quick look at what an Illinois visitor sees, and curl to confirm the address from a terminal.
Does rotating break my logged-in session?
Usually not. Cookies live in the browser profile, not on the address. Some platforms do ask you to sign in again after an address change.
